Pacific 2020

BCPNG, through members of its Executive Committee, is involved in the production of Pacific 2020, coordinated by the Pacific Branch of AusAID.

This report will be published in late 2005 and assesses long-term development challenges in the Pacific, PNG and East Timor.

Pacific 2020 will provide practical policy options to improve economic growth through reform in key productive and cross-cutting sectors.

A seminar, co hosted by the Institute of National Affairs, National Research Institute and AusAID, was held on the 26th of July. The purpose of the seminar was to inform the PNG Community about the 2020 process: challenges and opportunities for growth.

Together with the 'White Paper', the Pacific 2020 conclusions provide some guidance not only for the programmes for AusAID, but also trade and other relationships between Australia and its Pacific neighbours over the next few of years. Additionally, it will also identify other development partners.
