The Australia PNG Business Council (APNGBC)
BCPNG has a close working relationship with our counterparts at the APNGBC.
Every year we work together to hold two important events:
- Business Forums, where participants are provided with the opportunity to learn about business opportunities in Papua New Guinea, and to network with senior Australia and Papua New Guinea-based policy makers and senior businesspeople.
- Ministerial Forums, annual roundtable discussion with representatives from the PNG and Australian Governments, and the private sector.
We also work together to keep all our members informed of business conditions in Papua New Guinea, and represent their interests to governments in Australia and PNG.
Following is some information about APNGBC:
APNGBC is an independent association of businesses based in Australia which either invest in or trade with Papua New Guinea. It has approximately eighty members including major mining, banking, agricultural and service investors in Papua New Guinea.
The Council seeks to represent members' interests on a range of issues such as foreign investment guidelines, trade, migration criteria, professional and commercial services, law and order, aid, plus agreements between Australia and Papua New Guinea where a commercial element is involved. Each year the Council promotes a meeting between business people of each country where major issues are discussed.
Due to the close relationships with Papua New Guinea the Council has a high profile with the Australian Government and enjoys the same benefit with the PNG Government. The close links developed by the Council have benefited both the public and private sectors.
