The Business Council of Papua New Guinea

Established in 1995, the Business Council of Papua New Guinea (BCPNG) is the peak body representing the private sector in Papua New Guinea across all sectors, promoting the importance and role of economic growth, freedom and enterprise.

We work with government and other associated bodies to frame policy, take part in debate and support initiatives that generate economic growth for the wellbeing of Papua New Guinea and its people.

Providing a unified voice, we ensure the views and issues of the business community – those concerning our economic, social and political environment – are expressed in a well-researched and consolidated manner.

We keenly pursue links with like business organisations in the Pacific and Asia regions.

Our Focus

As an autonomous and non-profit organisation, BCPNG is engaged in a wide range of activities with a focus on objective and independent policy research. We foster dialogue and debate between the public sector, the private sector and academia.

In general, our programmes are centred towards the following areas of national interest:

  1. Law and Order, Security and Foreign Affairs
  2. National and International Economic Affairs
  3. Strategies for Nation-Building and National Unity
  4. Telecommunication, Technology and Industry
  5. Facilitating trade, investment and information seminars.
