DFAT Information - New Permanent Residency Rules
Under a new arrangement with the PNG Government, non citizens who have resided in PNG for more than five years will be eligible to apply for "Permanent Residency".
Holders of a Permanent Residence entry permit will no longer be required to hold a work permit issued by the Department of Labour and Industrial Relations.
The arrangement will mean that non-citizens who have resided in PNG for more than five years will be eligible to apply for permanent residency. However, applicants will be required to meet stringent criteria and be of good character.
