2008 AUSTRALIA PNG BUSINESS FORUM

The 2008 Australia Papua New Guinea Business Forum will again be held in Cairns at the Cairns Convention Centre from the 4th – 6th May 2008.

The Forum will continue to feature a Trade Expo Exhibition both for Papua New Guinean and Australian Companies to utilize the opportunity to promote and showcase their goods and or services to existing and potential clients as well as the Cairns community.

Negotiations and plans are currently underway by organizers to promote and create greater awareness both for the Business Forum and the Trade Expo.  This will include print and electronic media in both countries.

The Forum brings together a network of Ministers of Parliament, Business men and women, Public Policy makers, and Executives from the broader business communities to participate in discussion and deliberation in important issues related to the Political Economies of both countries.

This event attracted nearly 300 participants in the 23rd Forum held in cairns last year 2007 and is a jointly coordinated effort of the Business Council of PNG and Australia PNG Business Council.

All general enquiries relating to the Forum may be directed through the PNG Help Desk at the BCPNG Secretariat on telephone 3200700 or via email at executive@bcpng.org.pg.

2007 HIGHLIGHTS

BCPNG LIFTS THE PROFILE OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS

The BCPNG was a co-host of recent APEC Regional Seminar on the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights that was held in Port Moresby, on the 27th to 29th of August, 2007.

We thank Daltron, Ramu Sugar, SP Brewery, Steamships, WR Carpenters and Coca Cola Amatil PNG for their sponsorship and acknowledge the efforts of the trade & Service Committee .

Their efforts have been proof that PPP, public private partnerships, can achieve many great things.

The BCPNG Trade & Service Commission has an informal roundtable committee that co-ordinates dialogue between the agencies involved in the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights, mainly IRC, ICCC & IPO and acts as a liason between these agencies and our members.
